JOSEPH J. PASSARETTI, JR. is a 1990 graduate of Rutgers University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science. He attended the Quinnipiac University School of Law and received his J.D. degree in 1993. He wrote for the school’s Law Review and the Connecticut Probate Law Journal, and served as President of the Law School’s Mock Trial Society. Attorney Passaretti is admitted to the bars of the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, as well as the bars for the United States Federal Districts of Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. After law school, Attorney Passaretti worked for the Law Office of Christine L. Harrigan, a staff counsel litigation firm for The Travelers focusing on the defense of workers’ compensation matters, where he practiced for three years before joining Montstream & May, L.L.P. in 1998 where he continues to focus primarily on workers’ compensation defense litigation. Attorney Passaretti is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and a member of the Executive Council of the Workers’ Compensation Section, the CBA’s committee on Continuing Legal Education, and the Committee on Professional Discipline. Attorney Passaretti has written and published articles on Workers’ Compensation in Compensation Quarterly and Connecticut Lawyer magazine. In 1998, Attorney Passaretti became a Coordinating Editor of Compensation Quarterly, and was appointed Editor-In-Chief in 2002, a role he continued through 2008. Attorney Passaretti served as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Connecticut from 1999-2002, teaching in their Paralegal Studies Program. He has lectured for Lorman Education Services and the State of Connecticut in the area of Workers’ Compensation practice and procedure and has been a Board Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist since 2001. Attorney Passaretti is also a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and since 2005 has been a member of DRI’s Lawyer’s Professionalism and Ethics Committee.
